Free People Advice

In a pre aligned game with Rhudaur Evil and Dunland Free

Goal. Defeat of Rhudaur and Witch King by Turn 5 or 6 is essential. After Turn 5, dragons will start to appear in DS armies.

Problems. No FP army except the Cardolan Army at 1510 can reach any WK or RH pop center on Turn 1, meanwhile the WK and RH can recruit 1800 troops on Turn 1 and perhaps less on Turn 2 while the FP are moving towards them. Assuming an attack on 2209, no Noldo troops can arrive in the area until Turn 5. Without overwhelming and immediate participation by the Dunlendings and Dwarves, the odds will be essentially even: the WK and RH against Arthedain and Cardolan. That is a recipe for a lengthy campaign in the Norhwest.

Concept of Operation. The folloiwng turn moves are suggested:

Cardolan: Transfer all except 2200 food to pop center at 1510 and force march army to 1907 (E, NE, E, NE, NE). You should engage either a WH or RH army enroute. If not you'll land on a WK town with an army and do some early damage. Hire an army at 1514, retire 600 MAA in fleet at 1219 and hire 300 hv inf there on Turns 1 and 2. Move fleet to Tharbad on Turn 3. Nation transfer all food to capital on Turn 1. Recruit at 1513 and 1614 and send armies against WK on Turn 3.

Dwarves: Move one army of about 2000+ hv inf to 2111 ready to attack 2109 or 1910 on Turn 2. That will leave plenty of troops, assuming further troop builds, for an attack on Goblin Gate on Turns 3 or 4.

Dunlendings: Agree with need to divide armies into separate cav and inf armies on Turn 1. Suggest you move against RH at 1910 with a cav army followed by a large army of 1500+ hv inf in RH on Turn 3. A third hv inf army may be needed there by Turn 5.

Arthedain: Separate cav and inf armies on Turn 1 at 1407. Cav army moves against WK on Turn 2 and hv inf army moves against WK on Turn 3.

Noldo: Recruit army at 2209, if first one destroyed, and help against RH. Hv inf army of 1000+ arrives in WK territory on Turn 5 to help out.

I am confident that this plan will be fruitful in destroying or crippling first RH then WK. It is necessary, though, to keep the WK occupied by FP attacks so that he cannot attack us or go to the aid of RH. For that reason, the Cardolan 1st Turn attack is essential as are the 2nd Turn attacks on both the WK and RH. If the Woodmen and Sinda recruit heavily, they can manage the problems of Dol Guldur and Mount Gundabad and Goblin Gate with aid from the Dwarves and with EO and NG capturing Thuringwathost and/or destroying Bulraker's host.

Very respectfully,

Elrond
