As someone new to Middle-earth Strategic Gaming, we highly recommend that you start by playing our introductory module, Battle of the Five Armies (BOFA). This is a simplified version of the full game, which will introduce to you the basic concepts of the game. And, at a fixed cost for the entire game, it is a good way of seeing whether the game is for you!

There are several programs available to help you in all aspects of playing Middle-earth, from writing your orders, to understanding your turn, to creating maps and planning.
In order to get started, we recommend you download the following:
Acrobat
This is a program that allows you to view and print out your results.
Automagic
or
MEOW
These programs allow you to create your orders, and send them to us to be processed. Automatic has more functions than MEOW, but in order to run it you need Microsoft Excel.
Palantir
or
Archon
These programs creates an active map for you to use when planning your turn. Archon has more functions than Palantir, but ideally requires Windows 2000 to run.

If you have a preference as to which nation you wish to play, or there is a nation you do not wish to play, let us know. However, please be aware that in this case you may have to wait longer for a game to start with that nation available, and we recommend that you are prepared to play at least 3 nations.
